Wake Up for Singapore

I was happily sleeping in my bed on Sunday morning. Yeah I know, I have to get my ass outta bed and off to church, but that can come later. It's not often that I get to sleep in, so every chance to do so, I want to make FULL use of it.

And then, out of the blue. "Good morning everyone, and welcome to our National Day celebration." 23 different swear words in 4 different languages flash through my head in an instant. WTF?!

Maybe it'll go away. Maybe it's a really really bad dream.

It's not. When the national anthem started playing, I knew that there's no way my own subconscious is THAT sick. PLUS, I never knew all the words.

I gave up any hope of catching another 5 minutes of sleep and stumbled to the bathroom.

My parents were delightfully surprised that they didn't have to kick me outta bed. No, a sudden surge of goddam patriotism (not necessarily mine) did the job for them. Fuckers.

Happy birthday Singapore. Bah humbug.

ohhhh. i know the feeling. when i've crawled back home at 4 am practically every night of the week.. and then on sunday, when i'm expecting a luxurious sleep in till way past noon, the neighbour decides to start on some DIY reno work... drilling his walls and hammering wooden planks.. at 8 am in the morning. GAWD....

There are acts to stop construction work and other works that might affect sleep after 11pm at night. Perhaps they might want to look into one that disturbs the peace TOO EARLY in the morning.

Too many times i have been awoken to the noise of DIY neighbours who decides to drill his goddamn wall just when i was having a nice sleep.

Do that after 9:30 I don't mind. After all, it's wake-up call for Sat and Sunday cartoons. Heh.

patriotic.....not you.

Birken - perceptive. What constitutes Singapore anyways? The people? The land? The synchronized hand movements at Zouk on Wednesday nights?
